This is our 20th season!! We can’t wait to nourish you with healthy organic veggies this year.
This month is when the season begins! Over the winter we review all of our planning for the growing season and visualize our plan. We review our harvest records from the last season and make any necessary adjustments. We plan our seeding and planting schedule and crop rotation plan for the field. During March, we start the first seeds of the season.
We start our seeds in a small hoop house (16’x44′) aided by heat mats and radiant heater. These early months can be a challenge due to the extreme fluctuations of weather conditions.

We buy 99% our seeds from High Mowing Seeds. This company offers 100% certified organic seeds, never GMO or treated seeds. You can read more about this company HERE. We also purchase seeds from Johnny’s Selected Seeds. Our potting mix is certified organic and is purchased from another small company Vermont Compost Company through a local distributor. Our growing supplies are purchased through a local supplier.
Your CSA dollars help to support our small farm and other small businesses!

Seeds started so far this season are:
- Onions – 3 varieties
- Scallions
- Shallots
- Swiss Chard – 4 varieties
- Red Cabbage
- Bell Peppers 3 varieties
- Italian Roasting-Peppers 2 varieties
- Mini-Sweet Snacking Peppers (yellow & orange)
- Hot Peppers – 3 varieties
- Eggplant – 4 varieties
- Tomatoes -15 varieties including 8 heirloom varieties
- Broccoli
- Parsley

Initially to save on heating expenses, we only use half of the house. We can keep this space about 20 degrees warmer than the outside temperatures and try to only use the heater at night. Due to the limited space, many seeds are started in small cells and then re-potted into larger pots as we can expand when the temperatures start to normalize into more “spring-like” weather.

Even after all these years, this is always an exciting part of the season for us. Watching the tiny plants emerge from the seeds is so amazing.
From the field
The cover crops are growing and will be incorporated into the soil to add to organic matter that helps the soil structure and feeds the microbes. The garlic cloves that were planted last fall are beginning to emerge from the organic straw bedding that has kept it warm over the winter months.

We will send updates to you over the next few months.
We can’t wait to see you all in June!

There are only a few spots left for the 2025 season……….contact us ASAP if you would like to be on the harvest list!!
