Week B Members, welcome to your first week of your CSA share.
Everyone will get a weekly email. Please take a look at it each week. This is our best way to communicate to everyone. All past newsletters are available on the website if you missed them.
All recipes from past seasons can be found in the monthly archives. You can also find information in the Vegetable Directory located in the menu under CSA Membership on the website. Additionally, you can use the search feature at the bottom of each page. There is also a CSA Membership Handbook.

From the field
We are still trying to catch up on planting in the field. We have had to hand-plant a few crops. The tractor waterwheel transplanter was not used because the soil was still so wet from all the rain. We managed to harvest some radish from the flooded bed this week. There was a photo in last week’s newsletter. The flash flood washed out a bed of shallots. There is a photo below. It tore out the plants, raised bed mulch, and left behind rocks. Your dedicated farmer, Joe, moved the plants he rescued to another area of the farm. We completed planting the potatoes. Later than normal. We planted half of the beds before the last flash flood. We will have to wait and see how many were washed out after they sprout above ground. The sweet corn is in, and we have placed fencing around it to deter the deer from eating it. The snow peas are starting to flower, which means we should have them in a couple of weeks. The garlic scapes are just beginning to show. The tomatoes in the hoop house and high tunnel are green and lush with lots of flowers. We will need to do some pruning and trellising before it turns into a jungle in there. By the end of the week, the soil had dried out enough. We used the tractor to transplant the white stem pac choy and tatsoi. Thank you, Marcus, for driving so we could plant 2 rows at once. I heard there’s a heat wave coming next week.
We are very grateful that so many of you have been in our CSA for several years and understand that there are situations beyond our control with the weather. We are doing our best, and we will get through this together.
Quick Tips:
We give most veggies a rinse at the farm. We do recommend that you wash again at home.

My favorite salad dressing is oil free – 3-2-1 dressing – combine these ingredients in a jar and shake.
- 3 Tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
- 2 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
- 1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
From the Office
- If you joined with a deposit for a bi-weekly share, your remaining balance is due at your first delivery.
- CSA members with a monthly payment plan, $100 installments are due by the 10th of each month, June through September.
- If you joined with a split payment for a weekly CSA share, your balance is due August 1st.

Farm Events
Some of you have asked. Yes, we do plan to have our annual harvest events on the farm this season. We will have the date and details in the newsletter as we get closer. These are an opportunity to get on the farm. See where and how your food is grown. Spend some time with your farmers and fellow CSA members.
