**The regular season CSA continues until week #20 – The last week of October.**
The end is almost here – What will you do without your weekly veggies??–Join the 2020 Extension!!
Quick Tips -Wash your greens prior to eating! Mizuna – mild mustard green can be eaten raw or cooked – not recommended for smoothies. A simple side dish – saute quickly with olive oil and garlic with a splash of lemon juice. The cooking reduces the spiciness of mustard greens. They can also be added to stir fries and soups. Watermelon Radish – the prettiest radish of them all. These store well -add paper towel to the bag to absorb condensation in the fridge. These are a great choice for roasting. We love them in stir fry. Shred them over a salad for a pop of color and flavor. Collard Greens – the hardiest of all greens- can even be blanched and used for gluten-free wraps. They hold up well in soups and make a great choice for braising and greens & beans. Adirondack Red Potato – scrub them but no need to peel. We like to either cut and roast them or boil with some garlic, smash ’em a little and add chopped parsley. Butternut Squash – excellent roasted, for soup, and baked goods. This will store for quite some time at room temp. It can also be peeled, diced, and frozen without blanching. This is a timesaver if you have the freezer space.

FARM UPDATE: Why do we offer membership so early?? In order for our farm to purchase all of the supplies for the next season and cover operating costs, we need to have the funds for them. We offer the early discount as our appreciation for your support. These funds from the CSA Extension share and early 2020 CSA shares also help us keep the farm expenses paid through the winter months. The CSA is our sole source of income. Early membership also helps us with planning which takes place in December and January. We can decide which areas/equipment we can invest in for the upcoming season.
Thank you for your support – without you- we would not be farming. THANK YOU!!
One of our investments this season was a greens harvester. Cutting smaller greens is very labor intensive and takes place on your knees with one handful at a time. We are very limited in time and labor on our farm. There are only 3 of us (Joe, Joely & Marcus). In order for us to have time to harvest, pack, and deliver to you, we needed a boost. Here is a video of our new greens harvester. What a time saver!! This has been on our wish list for years. When you need to harvest early before the sun is too warm and you have a million other things to do ~ this really is worth every penny.
