Well it is here…..the final week!!  Thank you for supporting our farm this season. Please return any crop boxes. Your share will be delivered in a paper bag.  CSA Extension members — you can still save $50 if you pay in full by Friday, December 7th.  We extended the discount this year to members that joined the Extension CSA to thank you for your additional support.

Many of you have already joined for 2019 and this really helps us prepare for next season with funds for supplies. We are already making our supply lists and placing orders. We are looking forward to another great season and starting our first seeds in March – just three short months away….

For those of you that work at Corning, Inc. – Joe is attending the Health and Wellness Fair in January. Be sure to stop by, say hello, and tell your co-workers how much you love our CSA.  We have a $25 Discount until 2/1/19. They have purchased a CSA share for the raffle. Maybe you or someone you know could win.

Quick Tips:  Everything in your share this week will store well – eat your greens first as they will not. Room Temp storage for PotatoButternut Squash –  so many options with this squash – excellent roasted, soup, baked sweets – see the veg dir. Potato-we love ours mashed or roasted and we don’t usually peel- keep the fiber and the extra nutrients. Turnips – we prefer to use these storage turnips in our soups cut into cubes like potato, shredded and saute with apples & cinnamon, or roasted. Many people also eat mashed with potato. Daikon Radish – we really liked the fried daikon cakes and daikon au gratin. Beets – great boiled or roasted but roasting will bring out more sweet flavor. Once cooked they can be added to salads or other dishes very quickly. We like to prepare and have them ready. Beets can also be peeled and shredded raw into salads or put in smoothies. Beware – they will stain. I have a beet brownie recipe I am planning to try.
